Height: The Vizsla is about 21-24 inches tall.

Weight: The Vizsla weighs between 48-66 lbs.

Colors: The Vizsla can be various shades of a solid golden rust.

Physical Appearance: The Vizsla is a medium-sized, short-coated hunting dog, with a distinguished appearance and bearing, and a docked tail. They are rather lightly built, but robust. The coat is an attractive golden rust. This is a dog of power and drive in the field, yet is a tractable and affectionate companion in the home.

Temperament/Personality: The Vizsla is a sensitive dog, devoted to those who treat it kindly and give it attention. The Vizsla is not very discriminating to who he shows affection, he loves everyone. Lively, gentle-mannered, demonstrably affectionate and sensitive though fearless with a well developed protective instinct.

Care: The Vizsla needs to be brushed occasionally and bathed when necessary.

Brief History: Hungary is the country of origin of the Vizsla. The mild winters and abundant habitats for game birds in that country certainly contributed to the desire for the people of this area to own such a breed as the Vizsla. Descended from the Turkish Yellow Dog, the Transylvania Hound and Weimaraner. They were once used to hunt the vast plains of Hungary where game birds and hare lived. They were only known in Hungary until after World War II.
