Height: The Olde English Bulldogge is about 16-20 inches tall.

Weight: The Olde English Bulldogge weighs between 50+ lbs.

Colors: The Olde English Bulldogge can be brindle of red, grey, or black. Brindle spots on white. Solid white. Fawn, red or black, solid or with white. Pink noses and pink skin around eyes are undesirable, but not a disqualification. A full black mask is not acceptable.

Physical Appearance: The Olde English Bulldogge is a medium sized dog with a powerful build. He should be alert, with a symmetrical, well proportioned body. The dog should be cobby, but have the appearance of an athlete. It is a re-creation of the original Bulldogge. The dog's coat shoud be shorter than once inch in length varying from soft to stiff. Long feathering, or fuzzy coats are unacceptable. The Olde English Bulldogg's head should be large but in proportion to his body and flat on top with a squared appearance. The head should also be muscular with prominent cheeks. Eyes should be medium-sized black or brown with a almond or round shape to them and set wide on the head. The dog's muzzle should have large muscular jaws and should be broad and square. The Olde English Bulldogge's ears should be medium in size and may be either forward flap or rose eared. Shoulders should be well muscled and The neck should taper from the shoulder to the head and should be slightly arched. The chest should not be naroow or excessinely wide nor should the elbows be angulated out or pulled in. The back should not be narrow or swayed and should be broad and moderately short in length.The tail should be thick at the base tapering to a point if left natural. A docked tail should not be more than 3 joints in length.

Temperament/Personality: The Olde English Bulldogge is friendly, but a fearless adversary to anyone who threatens his master or property. Some aloofness with strangers and assertiveness toward other dogs is accepted but should be controlled. The Olde English Bulldogge should not be excessively timid or shy.

Care: The Olde English Bulldogge is an average shedder but requires minimal grooming. Brush the dog's coat once a week and bathe when necessary. The Olde English Bulldgge breeds naturally and whelps without any assistance in most cases.

Health Concerns/Problems: Olde English Bulldogges may be susceptible to "bloat". Bloat is a painful and often fatal condition that can be brought on by too large a quantity of food consumed at one time, so watch their diet. And like in all other large dog breeds, hip dysphasia sometimes occurs. Most all breeders are working hard to keep it out of the Olde English Bulldogge.

Training: The Olde English Bulldogge should begin training as soon as you acquire the dog. This breed of dog requires consistent training for short periods of time. If the sessions are too long, the Olde English Bulldogge will become bored.

Activity: The Olde English Bulldogge is an active dog if in top condition. However they will be happy with a moderate amount of exercise. A daily walk will suffice.

Brief History: The breed was developed by David Leavitt after many years of research and highly selective line-breeding in the 1980's. The Olde English Bulldoges is a cross of 1/2 English Bulldog and the other half is Pit Bull, Bullmastiff, and American Bulldog. It is a re-creation of the 18th century Bulldogge.
