Height: The Jagdterrier is about 13-16 inches tall.

Colors: The Jagdterrier can be black, black and gray, or dark brown, with brown, red, yellow or lighter colored markings found on the eyebrows, chest, legs and anus.

Physical Appearance: The Jagdterrier has a square (but not broad) build, and should stand square over it's feet. A deep and narrow chest is preferred to allow entry into dens. Length is in proportion to the body. Tail can be cropped but should be long enough to pull the dog from an animal's den. Coat should be thick and ample for turning briars.

Brief History: The Jagdterrier is a rather young breed that has been developed only since the turn of the 20th century. This dog was developed in Germany as a functional hunting dog where it was used on a wide variety of game, including wild boar, badger, fox and weasel. Dogs that have been imported into the United States are used for hunting as well.
