Brief History: The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (PBGV) is a trailing Scenthound, developed to hunt small game over the rough and difficult terrain of the La Vendee district, located on the western coast of France. It is one of the four ancient Griffon Vendeens breeds. The others include the Grand Griffon Vendeen, the Briquet Griffon Vendeen and the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen. The Vend?ens were directly bred from the white Southern Hound and rough-coated dogs from Italy.
